Agreed except for the comments about the "threats posed by climate change." I know someone is not thinking well about this topic when they present it one-sidedly as a threat. What about the reduction in deaths from cold -- which far outweigh heat-related deaths? What about increasing agricultural productivity? What about increased availability of land in previously too-cold places? The threats are wildly exaggerated. Even the biased IPCC finds little detectable signal of problems by 2100. The Summary for Policy Makers does not accurately represent the IPCC's science, and the popular media's messages further exaggerate.

The author could skip the nonscience about CO2 being ` evil , given that it's what he's made out of , as all LIFE has been for > 2,000,000,000 years , and our 4th molecule % 10k of air is spectacularly GREENING the planet and contributing to the continuing record agricultural yields while having an indistinguishable effect on temperature .

You STATE that :"climate change presents a genuine threat that demands serious attention. The Industrial Revolution and the economic rise of developing nations have increased carbon emissions and global temperatures. This warming will lead to more frequent and severe natural disasters, rising sea levels, and disrupted ecosystems in the medium to long term."

Perhaps ?........perhaps you should include some TIME-LINES to give this some relevance.

It is NOT now , and possibly NEVER WILL BE , CATASTROPHIC due to warming or indeed extra precipitation. So far the "warming and extra humidity and extra CO2 " has all been beneficial ,

as evidenced by the "greening of the planet" , the surging population growth and the increase in living standards worldwide ! HUMAN ADAPTATION will counter all and any adversity !!!

The reality is that DEATH FROM NATURAL DISASTERS has almost been eliminated ! It has fallen some 98% in the last century : " The aggregate mortality rate declined by 98%, largely due to decreased mortality in three main areas: Deaths and death rates from droughts, which were responsible for approximately 60% of cumulative deaths due to extreme weather events from 1900–2010, are more than 99.9% lower than in the 1920's "

Likewise : There is NO indication that storms are more severe or more frequent now ........in fact there is evidence that indicates they are diminishing ; So much for your "genuine threat" from the climate !....Personally , I feel much more threatened by what I perceive to be the breakdown in societal norms and behaviour and the MARXIST POLICIES being inculcated into our youth by the institutions [ Universities , Media , Politics !! ] which should know better [and which should stop producing "activists" and anxiety by "fear-mongering"] BASED ON ACTUAL-HISTORICAL-FACTS and HISTORY and not on HYSTERIA and HYPERBOLE ! ...i.e. "the spoilt brat syndrome ! '

The weird twisting of societal values and attitudes away from the LOGICAL empirical CAUSE and EFFECT consequences [ scientific] to the ILLOGICAL "feelings" and "emotions" towards the ['magical and mystical'] self-righteousness , self-entitled , and " I am hard-done-by BECAUSE I am young and poor ....unlike my parents who are old and wealthy " [ without making any LOGICAL connection between the FACT that the parents have worked-hard for 40 years to accumulate their wealth ....and they , the "spoilt brat" , has NEVER worked or been 'gainfully employed' ! ].

Having NEVER experienced ACTUAL HARDSHIP they have no way to put things in perspective ,

and I think your "global warming...genuine threat" merely adds to their misconception !

Otherwise.....the article is fine !! Regards , Trevor.

You don't address the main problem: that we have a finite planet to sustain continuous growth. It's a fact that we have been growing, as the Simon Index suggests (an index built on this website). However, I am really skeptical if that index considers the restoration of the main biological services that allow us to grow. And that is the problem. Of course, we can keep growing as we have been doing, but you have to ensure somehow that we can continue doing so for the next 100 years. You don't offer any solution to that problem. And it isn't a fact that dematerialization has zero emissions. Maybe with AI or internet platforms you don't see it, but you need a lot of minerals and water for the data centers that produce digital services.
