It is a shame that it has clearly been politics that has suppressed and even rolled back nuclear power in the last 40 years.

I strongly suspect most of the reason the West is loosening its blockade on common sense energy policies is because of the competitive demand for AI superiority.

Hopefully the result is the plentiful, affordable, and reliable energy we should have had decades ago, and that politicians don’t try and leverage it against their own people…again.

Yes. The perverted "green propaganda" has always been about returning humans to the "stone age" to "save the planet" as long as they , personally , were in POWER and controlled everything , which of course translates as "their lives will continue at luxury levels.......it's just the masses that will have to endure the newly-imposed primitive lifestyle " .

Basically , the greens HATE HUMANS [ "a cancer on the planet" I understand ! ] but love every other life-form . They have consistently and successfully argued against ABUNDANT ENERGY and especially NUCLEAR ENERGY and it remains a banned and taboo subject in Australia at present !!!!!

And yet LUCAS HEIGHTS "opal reactor" has operated wonderfully well WITHIN A LARGE CITY

producing a range of vital medical material. Although NOT a power-plant , it does illustrate THE GREAT SAFETY , SENSE AND UTILITY of NUCLEAR POWER.

The BENEFITS and the EXPERTISE have long been demonstrated !

IGNORANCE and FEAR have been the greens weapons ! These are no longer tenable !

All that is needed now is a GOVERNMENT with an iota of COURAGE to repeal the stupid laws that are only in place because the ghastly greens "had to be placated" and certainly NOT for any scientific , practical , financial or moral reason.

And the sooner the better !

The bottom line is climate and new nuclear power is too late and too expensive for the coming decade. Yes, it has a long term future as a vital clean energy component. But already most new installations are wind, solar or hydro, and most of those are in China. In the coming decade, China, India and developing countries will continue in that mode.
