Yeah....all true.......but it lacks the drama and the excitement of the removal of the water ..........
[ from the melted ice] which was ideal to put into a "water pistol" on a hot day.......................
and the replacement by the "ice man" with the new , large , heavy block of ice.......which somehow always managed to get "chipped" during delivery and end up in the hands and mouths of excited children !
And not only that ........Mum made "ice-cream" with sweetened-condensed milk and other stuff....
but she only used half-a-can................and the rest just "sat there' , temptingly , and became available for 'plunder' on the end of a sticky-finger ! Ah ! Bliss in a by-gone era !
