“…extraordinarily common …”? Now there’s an oxymoron!

Boy, oh boy, dem good ole days. Dem good old days. Old Days!

Thank The Lord for our continued progression as a society. Our technology has improved over the years. And, we have very good views of our security and our institutions.

I just hope that Chumpy and his chumps do not screw up our progress and our productivity as Americans. Right now, The Chumpy administration are screwing up the American economy with his stupid protectionist policies.

Does anyone remember the days of The Second World War?

"Our ancestors battled fear, filth, and fatigue after nearly every sundown."

Yes...and they lived in grinding poverty most of their short and brutal lives !

It's a wonder that they reproduced and perpetuated the human race , or "we" wouldn't exist !

Yes , and very much more besides that ........ wild animals.... and diseases that no longer afflict us !

And it wasn't all that long ago either ! Most 'colonists' suffered horribly , no matter which primitive country they were colonising ......the indigenous or native people often fought back too !

Fortunately for us , we have inherited a "tamer and much more civilised world" devoid of all these horrors and difficulties...........................and yet "we" moan incessantly about our good fortune !

Personally , I have lived long enough to experience a lot of the improvements and luxuries that are now "taken for granted" and under-appreciated today ! Anyone who talks about "the good old days" is really only wishing that they still had the wonder , the talent and promise , the vigour

and the youthful energy and physique [ often considerably exaggerated beyond reality !!! ]

of their earlier lives , as they fondly , but inaccurately perhaps , recall them ! Mind you , some aspects of "the good old days" are so entrenched that "we" still enjoy them in our dotage !!!

Fine wine and fine dining , magnificent houses and furniture , clean and modern clothing , music

and entertainment , domestic servants to take care of your every need.........every "Nursing Home " has them !.......Ah ! Yes ! Nostalgia is far better and kinder than neuralgia !
