While it is true that property tax rates have dropped by about 15-20 percent over the past few years, my property taxes have not declined; they've gone up. The politicians here know just how much to reduce the rate without losing any of their precious revenue. And Loudoun County Supervisors have imposed new taxes to feed their spending habit. Thank you for your comment. I don’t think it contradicts the linked essay, though. A homeowner’s tax bill could go up if the assessed value of their property is rising faster than the tax rate is falling.
And to be clear, I didn't include the story to praise the local Loudoun County government, but simply to draw attention to the large fiscal benefits of data centers.
